Marvel Studios has zeroed in on Hugo Weaving to play the villainous Red Skull in “Captain America.”

Joe Johnston is directing the movie, which remains in search of the actor to play Steve Rogers, Captain America’s alter ego.

In the Marvel comics, Red Skull has been Captain America’s archenemy since 1941, when he engaged in espionage and sabotage as Hitler’s right-hand man. In his final battle with the superhero, he was buried under the rubble of a bombed building but — as would occur later with Captain America — fell into a state of suspended animation. Both were revived in modern times.

The character was the villain in the low-budget 1990 “Captain America” movie.

The dealmaking with Weaving is in a delicate stage that will play out in the next day or so. Agencies grouse that Marvel plays hardball in the negotiating process and also demands multi-movie commitments, though the latter usually applies to actors playing its heroes.

If a deal happens, it would reunite the actor with Johnston, with whom he worked in the recent horror thriller “The Wolfman.” The CAA-repped Weaving already is known to genre fans as bad guy Agent Smith of the “Matrix” movies and elf ruler Elrond of the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy.

NEW YORK – Golf clubs in hands or not, the kids of “South Park” are ready to take on Tiger Woods.

Creators of the Comedy Central cartoon have long since proven that no subject is sacred to them. So for the opening of its 14th season on Wednesday, the troubled golfer encounters Stan, Kyle, Kenny and Cartman in their animated Colorado town.

“It’s such an important issue in America right now — the sex addiction outbreak,” Matt Stone, who makes the series with partner Trey Parker, said on Friday. “We’re all really concerned about him and hope he gets better.”

Sex addiction, the intersection of powerful men and willing women, late-night phone calls to the police and bad public relations gave them so much fodder they could have made an entire Tiger-centric season, Stone said.

Since the Peabody Award-winning show’s first episode in 1997, Parker and Stone haven’t worried about lines between good taste and bad if they can get a laugh. They mocked the Church of Scientology to the point of annoying Tom Cruise, and depicted Jesus Christ defecating on President Bush and the American flag.
“There’s a delicacy in talking about (Woods) that we don’t have to worry about,” Stone said.

He wouldn’t give many details about the episode, in part because he and Parker were still writing it on Friday. Stone said he was fascinated and disgusted by Woods’ public apology, so it’s likely that will be worked in.
“South Park” is airing its 200th episode next month.

“We can’t even believe we’re still here doing this,” he said.

The mum of Owen’s two children admitted news of his infidelity hit her “like a bolt out of the blue” and she’s struggling to come to terms with it.

“I don’t know the man I’ve married – this isn’t him,” the actress told one pal.

“I don’t know what to do. I need at least a week to think about what I want to do.”

Last week, Mark Owen spilled the beans about “at least ten” affairs he’s had since getting together with Emma five years ago.

“Almost overnight, Emma has gone from being in what she thought was a happy marriage to finding out her husband is a serial adulterer with a big drink problem,” her friend tells the Sunday Mirror.

Mark went into rehab for his alcohol addiction on Friday after revealing he’d had a lengthy relationship with accounts manager Neva Hanley, as well as numerous one-night stands with groupies.

Kylie Minogue’s eponymously titled debut album, released July 1988, contained the hit singles “I Should Be So Lucky”, “Got To Certain”, a re-recorded version of “The Loco-motion” and “Je Ne Sais Pas Pourquoi”. It sold over 5 million copies worldwide. Her duet with Jason Donovan, “Especially For You” debuted at #2 and shipped silver on release bringing Kylie’s single sales in the U.K. to well over 2 million in under 12 months. In October 1989 Kylie Minogue released her eagerly awaited second album “Enjoy Yourself” which shot to No.1 in the U.K. with pre-sales of over 600,000 copies. The album spawned 4 worldwide hits including the No.1 singles “Hand On Your Heart” and “Tears On My Pillow”.

In December Kylie Minogue’s first feature film “The Delinquents” was released around the world to rave reviews and became the top grossing movie in the U.K. Also that month, Kylie joined the likes of Bob Geldof, Lisa Stansfield, Bananarama, Bros, Cliff Richard, and Wet Wet Wet for Band Aid 2’s 1989 recording of “Do They Know It’s Christmas” to raise money for Ethiopia.

September 1994 saw the release of her album simply entitled “Kylie Minogue”. Greeted with much critical acclaim the album debuted at no. 4 in the U.K. All three singles released from the album became worldwide hits.

Kylie Minogue’s third duet “Where The Wild Roses Grow”, a “Murder Ballad” penned by Nick Cave and recorded with Nick and his band The Bad Seeds was released internationally in 1995, becoming her 25th consecutive hit peaking at No. 2 in Australia and 11 in Britain. The release introduced Nick Cave to a whole new audience whilst doing the same for Kylie Minogue.

In 1994 Kylie Minogue had a lead role in the $40 million dollar epic Streetfighter with Jean Claude Van Damme, and in 1995 she starred in a short film entitled Hayride To Hell shot in Australia for the European Film Festivals. 1996 saw the release of a comedy called “Bio-Dome” for the producers of “Dumb & Dumber” in Hollywood with Pauly Shore and Steven Baldwin. In 1998 Kylie starred in an Australian independent film called “Sample People”; and alongside Molly Ringwald in Mushroom Pictures horror film “Cut”. Earlier in 1999 she also found time to appear in a Caribbean production of Shakespeare’s “The Tempest” for which she received rave reviews. Kylie’s sixth studio album “Impossible Princess” (aka “Kylie Minogue”) was released in March 1998. In October 1999 Kylie released a collectible art book featuring contributions from many of the world’s most respected artists, on the theme of “Kylie”. Demand for the book was unprecedented with a second printing within the first month of release! In 2008 Kylie released her collectible limited edition “K” book featuring William Baker’s photos of her. 90% of stock sold out during her KylieX2008 world tour.

June 2000 saw the much anticipated release of “Spinning Around” the first single from Kylie’s debut studio album for Parlophone Records. In true style she caused a sensation by debuting at Number 1 in both the UK and Australian charts. “Spinning Around” also gave Kylie the honour of being one of only two artists (the other being Madonna) to have a number one in the eighties, nineties and noughties!

In September 2000 her follow up single, “On A Night Like This” was released repeating Spinning Around’s success by debuting in the UK charts at #2 and Australian charts at #1. Kylie’s most anticipated album yet, “Light Years”, was released at the same time to massive critical & commercial success debuting at #2 in the U.K. and reaching #1 in Australia (double platinum!)

Kylie performed to her biggest audience ever at the closing ceremony of the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games! Kylie thrilled more than 4 billion viewers with her rendition of “Dancing Queen” and “On A Night Like This”. Less than two weeks later she headlined the opening ceremony of the Paralympic Games.

Kylie ended a phenomenal year with the release of a fourth single from “Light Years”, “Please Stay” on December 11th, as well as a prestigious appearance at the Royal Variety Performance. The top 10 hit “Please Stay” was Kylie’s 33rd hit single and her 20th UK Top Ten hit.

In January 2001 tickets went on sale for Kylie Minogue’s first major tour in nine years. When the tickets went on sale for Kylie Minogue’s biggest concert tour to date, ‘Showgirl’ a greatest hits extravaganza celebrating her extraordinary career thus far, dates sold out instantly. Kylie’s greatest hits CD package, ‘Ultimate Kylie’ dominated the Christmas charts and also included the new track, ‘I Believe In You’ co-written with Jake Shears and Babydaddy from the Scissor Sisters which debuted at No. 2 in the UK charts.

Early in 2005, ‘Kylie – the Exhibition’ opened in Melbourne. The free exhibition featured costumes and photographs spanning Kylie’s entire career and went on to tour Australian capital cities receiving over 500,000 visitors, before opening at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London in January 2007 where the show set a new attendance record with 8000 visitors in one week. After a successful stint in Manchester the Exhibition concluded with a record breaking residence at the Kelvingrove Art Gallery in Glasgow.

In March ’05 Kylie’s sold out ‘Showgirl – The Greatest Hits Tour’ opened to great critical acclaim in Glasgow. She went on to perform 23 sold out nights at only four venues in the UK including seven nights at Earls Court Arena where she set the record for the most dates by a female artist ever at a UK venue. The tour also played 14 sold out dates throughout Europe before travelling to Australia where the rest of the tour had to be postponed due to Kylie being diagnosed with early stage breast cancer.

Kylie Minogue spent the next twelve months focusing on her treatment and recovery from cancer and in June of 2006 readers of leading British fashion magazine GQ and Glamour both vote Kylie ‘Woman of The Year’. In October of 2006 Kylie’s enchanting children’s book, ‘The Showgirl Princess’ was published, delighting her younger fans (and some older ones too!) Shortly after the release of the book Kylie’s first fragrance ‘Darling’ was released by beauty giants Coty. ‘Darling’ became the most successful fragrance launch in the history of Australian retailing and also is a huge success in the UK and throughout Europe.

On the 11th November 2006 Kylie made an emotional return to the stage in Australia to resume her Showgirl Tour which was retitled, ‘Showgirl Homecoming’, before taking it back to the UK for seven dates at Wembley and another seven in Manchester! The reviews were superlative.

On 29th October 2007 Kylie was honoured by Britain’s prestigious annual Music Industry Trusts’ Award, the first woman in the event’s 16 year history to receive the honour. Previous recipients include Elton John and Bernie Taupin, Sir George Martin, Michael Parkinson, John Barry and Peter Gabriel.

Sir Paul McCartney asked Kylie to duet with him “live” on BBC TV nationally throughout the UK to see out the last few minutes of 2007 – only to wake up on 1st January ‘08 to the news that the Queen had honoured her with an OBE!

Just over two weeks later John Travolta honoured Kylie Minogue in America at the now famous Australia Week Gala held by Australia’s Consul General to Los Angeles and in May the French Minister of Culture and Communications awarded Kylie one of France’s highest cultural awards, the “Chevalier de L’ordre des Arts et Lettres” insignia (‘Knight’ in the Order of Arts and Letters) for her “contribution to the enrichment of French culture”.

Her world tour KylieX2008 opened at the Paris Bercy on May 6th 2008. She travelled to 21 counties throughout Europe this (northern) summer playing to over half a million fans at 53 sold out shows! The London papers called the tour “pop perfection!” KylieX2008 continues on to South America in November before moving on to Dubai then through Asia to NZ and finishing in Australia just before Christmas. “A show NOT to be missed!”.

Kylie concluded the year with her 5th Grammy nomination when finalists for the
51st Grammy Awards were announced in Los Angeles. Her album “X”, released in the U.S. in February 2008 was nominated as “Best Dance Album”.

“Kylie at Home”, Kylie’s range of bed-linen, first released only a year ago has already broken sales records around the world and is currently the best selling range in House of Fraser, in the UK.

Early 2009 saw Kylie travel to Mumbai to take part in the most expensive Bollywood feature film ever to be made entitled ‘Blue’. As well as filming a cameo role Kylie also performed the main musical production number for the film. The track was written and recorded with the internationally renowned composer, AR Rahman.

In February 2009 Kylie’s 5th perfume, ‘Couture’ was released and ensured the on-going success of her fragrance brand ‘Kylie Minogue Parfums’ which is now enjoying it’s 3rd year of international success. She also hosted the prestigious Brit Awards in London alongside comedians Matt Horne and James Corden.

Kylie is currently preparing for a series of one off performances and is planning a US tour later in the year. She is also commencing work on her 11th studio album for Parlophone Records.

Mick Jagger had an affair with Angelina Jolie whilst he was still married to Jerry Hall, a new book has sensationally claimed.

It is alleged the pair first had a brief fling after she starred in the video for the Rolling Stones’ 1997 song Anybody Seen My Baby?, while she was still married to British actor Jonny Lee Miller.

And it is claimed they enjoyed a second affair six years later in 2003, while the womanising rocker was with his latest lover L’Wren Scott.

On this occasion it is claimed the two were seen going back to Jagger’s room at the Oriental hotel in Bangkok, Thailand.

The allegations come in a new book called Brad Pitt And Angelina Jolie: The True Story, written by US biographer Jenny Paul.

She has spent six years researching the material and her sources are said to include Jolie’s close friend Texas Terri and an ex-boyfriend of her mother, Bill Day

In a string of other allegations, Paul also claims that Angelina was sleeping with Hollywood star Ralph Fiennes and ex-husband Miller when she met Brad Pitt in 2004.

She also says that Jolie was dating Irish actor Colin Farrell, 33, for four months after meeting him on the set of 2004 film, Alexander.

But the couple were said to have ended the relationship because of his heavy drinking.

It is the first time that Jagger has been accused of cheating on his long-term partner Miss Scott, 42. He has been with the US fashion designer since 2001.

The 66-year-old’s first alleged fling with Jolie – who is 32 years his junior – was said to have happened two years before he finally divorced Texas model Jerry Hall, following a string of affairs during their 22-year marriage.

The new book also outlines an account of how Angelina Jolie and her current partner Brad Pitt got together. When they first met, he was still married to Friends star Jennifer Aniston.

‘Brad told Angelina just weeks into filming Mr & Mrs Smith that his marriage to Jen was over in every way apart from on paper and had been for more than a year,’ says Paul.

According to the book, Brad told Angelina that he and Jen were just good friends and were waiting for the right time to officially end their marriage.

It also tells how Brad and Angelina, who it is rumoured are on the verge of splitting, plan to have 13 children. ‘Some will be adopted, some will be biological,’ Paul added.

‘And when they’ll have those kids may be up to Brad because he’s the one calling the shots these days.

‘The power base in the relationship has changed,’ Paul reveals. ‘Angelina wore the pants first, but now Brad’s the one wearing them.’

The revelations come amid reports that Johnny Depp’s wife Vanessa Paradis, 37, has told her husband to quit his film The Tourist after learning he is to do a passionate sex scene with Jolie.
Spokesmen for both Jagger and Jolie declined to comment.

The makers of The Hurt Locker have been hit by a multi-million dollar lawsuit from an American soldier who claims he was the inspiration for the film.

Master Sgt Jeffrey Sarver filed papers in a US district court in New Jersey which allege that “The Hurt Locker motion picture and DVD are nothing more than an exploitation of a real life honorable, courageous and long-serving member of our armed forces, by greedy multi-billion dollar ‘entertainment’ corporations”.

Sgt Sarver says journalist Mark Boal, who wrote the screenplay for the film after being embedded with a US Army unit in Iraq, based the film’s main character on his life but lied by claiming the character was fictional.
The bomb disposal expert’s lawyer Geoffrey Fieger said: “They literally transposed his life in the film and then claimed it was a work of fiction.

“The only fiction was the claim it was a work of fiction.

“The screenplay says he is a blonde, blue-eyed trailer trash from Tennessee, but he’s blonde, blue-eyed and grew up in a trailer in West Virginia.

“Nobody can claim with a straight face that it’s not Jeff Sarver.”

Sgt Sarver, who wants the opening credits to list him as the basis for the character Will James, says that Boal was with his bomb disposal unit when he was commissioned to write an article for Playboy magazine in 2005 that led to the Hurt Locker screenplay.

He claims that he spoke at length with Boal and that he coined the phrase “the hurt locker”.

Among those named in the suit are Boal, director Kathryn Bigelow and distributor Summit Entertainment.

The case comes as a second blow in consecutive days to the film, which is nominated for nine Oscars this weekend, after an email from producer Nicholas Chartier to Academy voters urging them not to vote for Avatar was leaked to the press.

Attempting to sway voters by disparaging a rival film is strictly against Academy rules and he has been banned from attending the ceremony as a sanction.

Summit Entertainment did not comment directly on Mr Sarver’s allegations but issued a statement saying that they hoped for “a quick resolution” to his claims.

“We have no doubt that Master Sgt Sarver served his country with honour and commitment risking his life for a greater good, but we distributed the film based on a fictional screenplay written by Mark Boal,” the statement read.

“We hope for a quick resolution to the claims made by Master Sgt Sarver.”

At a news conference Sgt Sarver’s legal team said that they had deliberately not spoken out until after this year’s Oscar ballot had closed on Tuesday as they did not want to prejudice Academy voters.

“We want the movie to be successful, because that is in my client’s benefit,” said Mr Fieger, adding that if the suit is successful the producers will “have to share the financial benefit that apparently they are going to reap from this movie”.

He added: “I would hope they do the right thing, but my experience tells me when people have money they rarely do the right thing.”

Recognise these young ladies? Yep, they’re the Sugababes. Or rather they were. As you probably know, the girls in the picture have been replaced one-by-one over the years, meaning the current lineup of Heidi, Amelle and Jade features precisely no original members.

That would be weird enough, but now it seems that Siobhan, Mutya and Keisha have applied to register the Sugababes name with the European Union’s trademark office OHIM.

Mutya originally submitted a trademark application in November and new papers have added the names of Keisha and Siobhan.

It’s just the latest instalment in the strangest saga in British girl band history.
