Simon has since admitted he ’100 per cent’ wants her back as a judge on X Factor and said the door was always open for her to return, but Will.i.am once again threw a spanner in the works by saying Cheryl ‘didn’t need’ the show to be successful.

Now it appears Will.i.am and Cheryl have dealt another blow to the X Factor boss, with Cole reportedly planning to make her musical comeback with a performance on The Voice.

The BBC show, in which Will.i.am features as a mentor, is set to go up against Simon Cowell’s Britain’s Got Talent in a prime-time ratings war later this year so the signing of Cheryl Cole will be something of a coup for the broadcaster.

A source told the Daily Star: ‘Cheryl should be releasing her single when The Voice is on TV so it makes sense to combine the two.

‘Cheryl’s manager Will.i.am is obviously a judge on the show so he’s already been talking to producers to get the ball rolling.

‘The BBC are desperate to beat Cowell and BGT in the ratings and they know there’s no better way to do that than by getting Cheryl to perform her new single for the very first time live on the show.’

The source added: ‘Although it’s not a done deal yet, it’s only the pen and paper bit that needs to be completed.

‘Not only will the performance be seen my millions of people, it will also be a good way for Cheryl to stick up a cheeky one finger salute at Simon.’

Cheryl’s third studio album will include a duet with Will.i.am, with Cole thought to have also worked with Taio Cruz, Alex Da Kid and Rihanna.

The follow-up to Messy Little Raindrop is expected later this year, with sources suggesting the first single will be released as early as March.

Boyband Westlife delivered a shocking blow to fans by announcing they are to split ‘amicably’ after a farewell tour next year. The news comes after 14 years and 26 top ten hits.

Westlife had achieve 14 number one hits and most will be going onto “new ventures”, as mentioned during their announcement.

In a statement the group said: “Over the years Westlife has become so much more to us than just a band. Westlife are a family.”

Westlife hit top spots in the charts with hits like Swear It Again and Flying Without Wings. The band was left in doubt as one of its founding members made a swift departure, Bryan McFadden. But the band still carried on going strong as a four piece.

Singer Mark Feehily also won admiration for announcing he was gay when the boy band were at the peak of their success.

Many of their big hits over the years were cover versions and they capitalised on a swing revival by recording a Rat Pack-style album Allow Us To Be Frank.

Members Feehily, Kian Egan, Shane Filan and Nicky Byrne are due to release a greatest hits album shortly.

They said they had “countless memories that we will forever cherish” from their years together.

Twinnings recently launched their new TV ad campaign over the weekend. The new Twinings advert with Charlene Soraia was created by AMV BBDO, the £5m campaign first aired during Saturday night’s episode of The X Factor.

The advert features a cover of the famous ‘Wherever You Will Go’ (The Calling) sung by Charlene Soraia. On YouTube the ad has received over 32,000 views and still climbing. Also noticeable is that the making of the song is also achieving a increasing amount of views after the launch of the TV campaign.

Charlene was born in Sydenham and at age 5, first picked up a guitar. She carried on secretly playing the guitar until the strings had worn away. Her father then bought Charlene her own guitar where she instantly began to hone her talent and spent hours teaching herself to play.

The Saturdays’ Frankie Sandford has taken to Twitter to deny rumours the band is splitting up for two years because Una Healy is expecting her first baby with boyfriend Ben Foden.

Frankie, currently stepping out with Manchester City footballer Wayne Bridge, furiously took to the microblogging site this morning to quash reports that some of the group are interested in pursuing solo work.

In a number of tweets the singer wrote: ‘2year break my arse! If only you guys could see our schedule! 2 days off is a struggle! Lol. Let’s not make the excitement of the benuna baby all doom and gloom!

Last night Una Healy, Mollie King and Vanessa White were spotted looking subdued as they left their manager’s office in London – further fuelling rumours that the girl group are planning a split at the end of their upcoming tour All Fired Up in December.

Irish singer Una, 29, and 26-year-old England rugby star Ben have been dating for two years and were said to be ‘over the moon’ with their baby news.

The redhead also took to Twitter to vow that she won’t let her pregnancy get in the way of work and confirm that she has no plans to leave the band.

She tweeted: ‘And just to reassure all Saturdays fans its all systems go and I will be remaining fully committed to the band and our Tour in December x.’

The amazing US indie band have officially announced they are to part ways after 31 years and 15 albums together.

They published a statement on their website which read: “To our Fans and Friends: As R.E.M., and as lifelong friends and co-conspirators, we have decided to call it a day as a band.

“We walk away with a great sense of gratitude, of finality, and of astonishment at all we have accomplished. To anyone who ever felt touched by our music, our deepest thanks for listening.”

Each member of the group – singer Michael Stipe, guitarist Peter Buck and bassist Mike Mills – also wrote their individual feelings about the end of the band.

Michael wrote: “A wise man once said – ‘the skill in attending a party is knowing when it’s time to leave.’ We built something extraordinary together. We did this thing. And now we’re going to walk away from it (sic).”

Mike added he felt that the bands last album, ‘Collapse Into Now’ – released in March – drew a “natural line” under their work and said the break up has not been caused by any hard feelings between the members.

He said: “There’s no disharmony here, no falling-outs, no lawyers squaring-off. We’ve made this decision together, amicably and with each other’s best interests at heart. The time just feels right.”

Drummer Bill Berry – who left the band in 1997 and was not replaced – has yet to comment.

R.E.M were formed in 1980 and were pioneers of the underground indie music scene in the U.S. Over the years they built a strong fan base, particularly among college students, through constant touring. Although their albums were critically acclaimed, their first mainstream hit didn’t come until 1987 with ‘The One I Love’.

R.E.M signed with major label Warner Brothers in 1988 and hit their commercial peak in the early 90s with their albums ‘Out of Time’ – which spawned the singles ‘Losing My Religion’ and ‘Shiny Happy People’ and ‘Automatic for the People’.

The band continued to have huge success and produce a prolific number of albums through the 90s, and while their experimentation with their musical style was less commercially successful in the last decade, they were inducted into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame in 2007 and continued to be held in high regard by both fans and critics.

YouTube has blocked Lady Gaga’s official channel and is currently suspended by the video sharing website.

Any users that try to click on the link to her video are greeted with a simple message.

“This account has been suspended due to multiple or severe violations of YouTube’s Copyright Policy,” it reads.

On the Japanese TV show the worldwide singers performed a medley of songs featuring Born This Way, You & I and The Edge of Glory.

Footage of that performance has since been removed from other websites as well as YouTube.

On one it says the copyright violation claim is from Media Interactive Inc.

Google, which owns YouTube, said it does not comment on individual videos or accounts.

X-factor hopefuls Jedward have released the cover art for their forthcoming second album “Victory”.

The coverart for the new album has a very American feel to it – this is more than likely because the duo were inspired after performing for US president Barack Obama while he was on a recent trip to Ireland.

The new album “Victory” artwork includes John and Edward are dressed in white blazers, wearing blue ties and red trainers.

The brothers have been cloned on the cover, making it look like a line of never-ending high-haired Jedwards.

The album is set to be released on August 15 in the UK and will contain their Eurovision song Lipstick, as well as their newest track Bad Behaviour.

Victory will be the Irish duo’s second album and is a follow-up to Planet Jedward, which was released last year and reached number 17 in the UK album charts.

It was recently announced that the former X Factor contestants will return to the show this year, taking up the role of mentors to help Louis Walsh pick acts during the judge’s houses round.

It has started to be reported that N-Dubz are on the verge of breaking up. This news comes after Tulisa Contostavlos replaced Cheryl Cole as a judge on The X Factor.

Tulisa’s cousin and fellow singer Dappy is furious after she took the new job as the band have always not liked X Factor acts.

The Sun has reported that Dappy has decided to focus on his solo career and has signed up with Tinchy Stryder’s management.

A source close to the band said: ‘Dappy is livid about the whole situation. Tulisa has a new passion now – and that’s not what they got into the business for.

‘He has thrown himself into his solo career because, as far as he is concerned, N-Dubz is all but over.’

N-Dubz last album reportedly did not do as well as they had hoped it would do in the charts and as a result Dappy has had doubts over the future of the band causing a rift between them.

After Christmas and their fourth coming ten date tour and new album, Dappy is reportedly set to leave the band.

At the same time, Tulisa is planning to capitalise on her X Factor fame with talks of a solo tour next year while Fazer is trying to make a name for himself as a producer.

The source added: ‘The last tour was stressful. The mood was grim between the three of them.

‘Tulisa is now planning her solo career off the back of X Factor. There have already been talks of arena tours for her in 2012 and a promo strategy.’

N-Dubz spokesman insisted everything was alright between the trio.

‘The band will continue despite solo projects. They have gigs throughout 2011 and plans are in place for another single and album. The band are definitely not splitting up.’

The next scehduled album by Jessie J is set to released early by a month.

Her debut album will come out on February 28th, four weeks earlier than planned, which will be fantastic news for her ever-growing following – called Heartbeats.

The singer made the announcement on her Twitter page at 9.30am today.

She tweeted: ‘So – due to my amazing #heartbeats showing so much love and support, myself Island Records UK and Republic Records have decided that you deserve the album EARLY.

‘The new date for Who You Are, my debut album, has been brought forward to 28th February. That’s 4 weeks early.’

Recently, the Essex lass announced she will be doing a seven-date tour this spring.

It will kick off on March 31st at the O2 Academy in Glasgow and will finish on April 9th at the Mandela Hall in Belfast. Tickets will go on general sale tomorrow.

Britney Spears new single will debut exclusively on US radio next week, it has been confirmed.

Entertainment Weekly reports that Britney’s debut single ‘Hold It Against Me’, will be the lead single from the star’s as-yet-untitled seventh album, will receive its first radio play on January 7.

Sharon Dastur, programme director at New York’s Z100 station and one of the few people to have heard the comeback track, stated: “It’s produced by Dr Luke and Max Martin, and the beat that they give her is really unique compared to other artists – this infectious bass beat beneath the song.”

The song’s alleged lyrics circulated around the internet earlier this week, but were later dismissed by producer Dr Luke as fake.

Spears confirmed earlier this month that her long-awaited album is due for release in March 2011.
